Anna Kjellson

I believe the role of teachers in our society is to teach content and also teach students how to use and apply content. Teachers serve as models and guides for interpersonal interactions, empathy, perseverance, and lifelong learning.”

Chemistry

Why Chemistry

“I love understanding how the microscopic affects the macroscopic that I see around me.”

Professional Experience

In 2017, Anna worked as an environmental education intern at the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve. In this role, she assisted with the school and community program for horseshoe crabs, estuary habitats, and the Delaware Bay. Her work also included attending teacher workshops on renewable energy and marine debris, and creating and presenting her own curriculum.

Additionally, Anna participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, in 2018. She worked alongside university faculty and a small group of students on biochemistry research related to the use of plants for a variety of applications. She later presented her research at a symposium in Alexandria, Virginia.

In 2019, Anna worked as a research and development intern with Croda, Inc., in New Castle, Delaware. This experience exposed her to industrial chemistry; she spent her days learning how to troubleshoot different formulations of specialty chemicals to optimize blends for customers.

Anna also worked as a teaching assistant in general chemistry at Gordon College for three years.

She will begin teaching at Ipswich High School during the 2020–2021 school year.
