Teachers should prepare our nation’s young people to be whatever they want to be.”

Emily’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Mathematics

Why Mathematics

“I love the beauty in patterns and multiple ways of reasoning. Math offers a space for students to practice driving the problem solving process, using all their prior knowledge and working with their peers as resources to model solutions to unique problems. This is a skill that is beneficial in any space, not just math!”

Professional Experience

Emily taught leadership to teens at YMCA Camp Marston for three summers as a student. She also taught an eight-week college precalculus course at the University of California, Berkeley while in a master’s program.

Emily will begin teaching full time at San Lorenzo High School during the 2018–2019 school year.

Hobbies

Emily enjoys going to the beach, playing frisbee, diving under waves, and reading a good book.
