Why Chemistry 

“I remember learning that atoms and molecules are mostly empty space. I looked down at my desk in chemistry class and was blown away at how it could hold up my notebook. That was when I fell in love with chemistry and how it explained the world around me.” 

Professional Experience

Hannah began tutoring younger students in math and science when she was in high school. She taught middle school science at LearningWorks in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for two summers. She then returned to teach a Leadership Academy class focused on community service, high school readiness, and social justice. While studying at Johns Hopkins, she worked as a teaching assistant for a freshman chemistry class for one semester and as a lead course assistant for a computer science class for two years.

She will begin her first year of teaching at Half Moon Bay High School during the 2021–2022 school year. 

Volunteer Experience

Through Americorps, Hannah spent one year volunteering with College Possible Minnesota as a high school senior coach. In this role, she empowered students from low-income backgrounds on their path to and through college.


Hannah is passionate about volleyball. She won an NCAA National Championship and continues to play outdoor volleyball and coach youth volleyball.
