I want my students to remember that they are valuable. Students have a voice that is worth hearing, and that is worth sharing. I think all students have something to contribute in the classroom whether it’s a piece of information or the energy they bring into a class.
Judith’s Story
Teaching Discipline
Biology and Chemistry
Why Biology and Chemistry
During high school, I decided to pursue a degree in biology in college because of my AP Biology teacher. I loved how he designed the class and the topics that were discussed. During college, I applied to become a chemistry TA, and I really enjoyed understanding Chemistry on a deeper level.
Professional Experience
Before becoming a teacher, Judith volunteered abroad in Guatemala in an elementary school. During this trip she was in charge of the second grade class, teaching the children English. Her group also assisted with some renovations around the school and painted murals around the recess area. This trip is what helped Judith decide she wanted to become a teacher.
Judith has worked as an elementary school tutor for reading and math, as well as one year student teaching Chemistry and three years as a teaching assistant for General Chemistry 1 & 2 and Organic Chemistry.
Judith will start her first year teaching Chemistry and Physics at George Westinghouse College Prep, Chicago, in the 2024-2025 school year.
Hobbies
In her free time, Judith loves reading and is currently obsessed with thrillers. She also loves to travel and recently returned from checking another country off of her bucket list; Costa Rica.
