Leigha’s Story
Prior to teaching, Leigha worked as a lab tech at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From 2008 to 2022, she taught chemistry and physics at Kenwood Academy and Walter Payton College Prep, where she also served as the science department chair.
Leigha holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Spelman College and a Master of Arts in science education from New York University. She is currently enrolled in the Science and Curriculum and Instruction doctoral program at the University of Illinois Chicago.
She resides in Chicago, Illinois with her young daughter and her partner. In her spare time, Leigha enjoys spending time by the water, dining out at new restaurants and going on adventurous vacations.
