Why Biology

“I really enjoy biology and was a wildlife ecology major in college. I think that biology is such a relevant and relatable subject for students.”

Professional Experience

In college, LJ  was a part of an outreach group called Biocore Outreach Ambassadors. Through this program, he ran a science club and science night events in rural communities outside of Madison, Wisconsin.

Before deciding to become a science teacher in the United States, LJ taught Conversational English in Thailand for a semester.

After college, he served for a year as a City Year Corps member with City Year Milwaukee at Alexander Mitchell Integrated School of the Arts. With his City Year team, he also helped with the Boys and Girls Club after school. Additionally, LJ worked as an environmental educator at Nature’s Classroom Institute in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and as a crew leader for the Student Conservation Association for four summers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.


LJ enjoys bird watching, hiking, water skiing, paddling, and biking.
