A teacher’s role in society is that of a guide. I think teachers are the ones responsible for presenting students with knowledge, teaching them how to use said knowledge to solve problems and then passing them the baton so they can do the same for others.”
Monique’s Story
Teaching Discipline
Biology
Why Biology
“I chose this field of science as my teaching discipline because I am passionate about it and teaching something you are not passionate about would defeat the purpose of teaching science at all. I believe science can be a source of empowerment for students.”
Professional Experience
For three years, Monique tutored students of various ages in different subjects, including Spanish. She also worked as an academic coach for her university, where she helped student athletes with homework, projects and study skills.
Monique began teaching at International High School at Langley Park during the 2017–2018 school year.
Hobbies
Monique enjoys bicycle riding down steep hills so she can feel like she’s flying with the wind in her face.
