Tyler Hill

The biggest thing that I want students to walk out of my classroom with is knowing that they can do anything they put their mind to. Chemistry can be incredibly challenging for a number of students and one of the biggest values that I try to instill in them is to never give up. Hopefully they learn walking out of my class that hard work and determination can lead to fulfilling any challenge that faces them in life.”

Why Chemistry

“I found a passion for chemistry in high school. Chemistry is all around us and I love figuring out why the world works the way it does.”

Professional Experience

Tyler’s first teaching experience came in college when he co-taught a leadership course for Northern Arizona University’s Orientation team. He also spent a summer teaching a chemistry course for a program at Northern Arizona University for low-income students from the surrounding Native American reservations to introduce them to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Tyler began teaching at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix, Arizona during the 2016–2017 school year, where he was named as a finalist for his school district’s “Rookie of the Year” Teacher Award.

Volunteer Experience

Tyler is involved in the Dove of the Desert Young Adult Group, a group at his church that does various community service projects. They work at homeless shelters, nursing homes and food banks over the course of the year and during a week-long trip over the summer.
