At the 2018 New Jersey Science Convention, five Knowles staff members will deliver three presentations. On Tuesday, October 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Witherspoon, Knowles Program Officers Michele Cheyne and Anna Monteiro will provide a high-level overview of Establishing an Equitable Classroom Culture: An Introduction to Complex Instruction for Science Teachers, a Knowles Academy course. During their session, attendees will learn how to equalize learning experiences by improving collaboration and student participation.

On Tuesday, October 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Witherspoon, Knowles Program officers Joyce Lin and Laura Shafer will provide a high-level overview of Designing Instructional Tasks to Increase Student Engagement and Learning in Science, a Knowles Academy course. During their session, attendees will analyze science tasks for features that support varied learning opportunities for students to learn the content.

On Wednesday, October 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Nassau 27, Knowles Program officer Katey Shirey will provide a high-level overview of Engaging Math and Science Students in Engineering Design, a Knowles Academy course. During their session, attendees will complete an engineering design challenge and work together to outline the engineering design process they used, and then compare and contrast those steps to the NGSS science and engineering practices.
