This summer, KSTF Senior Fellow Katey Shirey is introducing high school students to engineering design as an Upward Bound instructor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Upward Bound students are studying the science, math and engineering concepts that underpin one of the world’s largest and most remote experiments—IceCube—which is conducted at the South Pole. Shirey, who was previously involved with the project, was quoted in a recent Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel article about UW-River Fall’s Upward Bound program. Read the article now.
